On behalf of the Bend Waves water polo board of directors, coaches, and players, thank you for your consideration in partnering with our USA Water Polo Club this season through a corporate or family sponsorship. Our club membership is growing and has reached 100+ kids a year in Central Oregon, by 2025 we’d like to see our club reaching 200+ kids and families. We teach, train, and play water polo ages 8 to 18, and have a thriving masters program for adults in our community. Our coaching staff are committed to preparing students to continue playing water polo at the next level. Your investment in our club and kids make a tremendous impact in our community and beyond.
Our scoreboard and shot clock system is over 15 years old. It is antiquated and the software can not be updated anymore. It shorts out from time to time and the shot clocks, which originally were rechargeable, now need to be plugged in continuously, among other things creating a tripping hazard on the pool deck. When the system randomly resets, the game has to stop mid-play until resolved. This causes significant inconsistencies and possibly unfair advantages for the teams. It has caused our club to not host local tournaments, even though traveling teams want to visit Bend for a tournament. A new scoreboard and shot clock system would affect many Bend community members. It would be used daily for 10 months a year for 6 local high school teams, 6 local Bend Waves Water Polo Club teams, daily practices, games and scrimmages, and 2 yearly local tournaments. Water polo games use two 30 second shot clocks. Currently, our teams are at a disadvantage because we can not practice with shot clocks daily to learn to play with and against the ticking clock. A new system would allow all teams to practice daily with it and become a more competitive threat to other teams.
